Circular Economy Masterclass April 2024

EEV's Circular Economy Masterclass will explain the concept, the policy response and opportunities for the future, as well as case studies you can use for SACs.  It will be delivered as an online webinar and you will have opportunities to ask questions of each presenter.  We'll also share links to resources to assist with deepening understanding of the topic. Featuring Sustainability Victoria's Senior Advisor, Circular Economy, Florian van den Corput and Planet Ark's Recycling Campaigns Manager, Hailey Durham. While this will be a workshop for Teachers, we'll provide an edited video for you to engage your students on this issue. Join us for a guided Aboriginal Heritage tour at the Botanic Gardens, (90mins) and stay for lunch to celebrate the end of the year. Meet at the Royal Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre just before 10:00am.  (Opposite the Shrine) BYO picnic, or pick up lunch at the cafe and join us on the lawn. Early bookings essential as this is a face to face event.   Getting there: 10-15 min walk from Flinders St Station, or catch the Tram towards the Shrine Public parking is available around the Gardens   What to Bring: Appropriate footwear Hat, Sunscreen, bug repellent Weather appropriate clothing Picnic blanket Lunch (or purchase from one of the cafes onsite)

RSS Term 1, 2024 Workshop - Food and Gardening

Everything you need to know about food gardening, including fruit trees We will have tours and presentations about the food programs at Werribee Park, many of which facilitate engagement with communities with diverse cultural heritage.  The Park includes a Heritage Orchard as well as Veggie Gardens so we can learn about a range of ways to grow food at school. The remainder of the day will give you time to work on documentation of any of the modules with the assistance of RSS facilitators.  Of course, there'll be lunch and morning tea provided and a chance to network with other teachers implementing ResourceSmart. The workshop will be held at Werribee Mansion Homestead. We have a very limited amount of CRT funding ($363 + GST) for schools or teachers in need. Student Wellbeing and Nature Presentation

Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health at Deakin University, Claire Henderson-Wilson, and PhD Student Megan Dennis will present research and discuss the connections between nature and wellbeing for students. Join us for the presentation and ask questions to help with implementing more nature time at your school. A wonderful opportunity to teach skills that will benefit your students now and throughout their lives.  Help regulate emotions, build habits that will contribute to resilience and support effective classroom management. The presentation will include discussion of the benefits to neurodiverse students.

Together, we will: - find out what happens to our school and home waste in our local community - learn how to conduct a waste audit and a litter audit with your students, and how you can use that information - find out what projects, events or initiatives can be planned in your schools to promote the most sustainable recycling and disposal of waste.    The remainder of the day will focus on giving participants time to work on documentation of any of the modules with the assistance of RSS facilitators.   The workshop will be held in the City of Greater Geelong, Wurriki Nyal Civic Precinct 137-149 Mercer St, Geelong VIC 3220   We have a very limited amount of CRT funding ($363 + GST) for schools or teachers in need. JOIN US FOR A LOCAL RECYCLING FACTORY TOUR Have you ever wondered what happens to your recycling? This tour is a must-see for anyone interested in learning more about how we can reduce our waste.  Walking around the site is fascinating - a visceral assault on all your senses.   The tour will be hosted by APR's Education team and will include opportunities for you to:   learn about “wish-cycling” understand the daily challenges and limitations of operating a recycling facility participate in a fun quiz about what can and can't be recycled be confronted by common myths and the mythbusting realities of recycling   Date, time and location: Tuesday 14th November 2023 4-5pm APR Kerbside, 9 Felstead Dr, Truganina VIC 3029, Australia   Additional details: Please make your own way to the site by 3.50pm - plenty of onsite parking is available.  Closed shoes must be worn (steel capped boots - if you have them) PPE will be provided by APR (eye-goggles, earplugs, his vis jackets and helmets) Light refreshments will also be arranged by EEV.
